(Don't hold your breath - Batali and Ducasse likely won't join the ranks of diet delivery services but some of these chefs certainly aim to emulate their tastiness.) The Race to Be a Big Loser We always treat weight loss like it has to be done in X amount of time by X date. Nutritionists maintain it is a gradual process and commitment that melts the weight off, not a crash two-week course. These programs suggest long-term commitment with meals delivered daily. Of course the best results happen when healthy eating is combined with portion control and exercise. The Importance of Eating Earnestly We sampled the food from three different diet delivery meal plans: Zone Chefs, 5 Square Meals and Nutrisystem. A variety of factors were considered when sampling the fruits (vegetables, proteins and carbs) of each program.

Vegetables' many virtues
Blessed are the parents who let children know early on that it's really OK to like vegetables. It is, in fact, better to love them. A close relationship with vegetables can usually bring a longer and healthier life. If you listen to a lot of people, healthy and frequent doses of veggies can bring smooth skin, healthyhair, a good disposition. You name it, and someone somewhere will attribute all she is today to a diet of nutrient-rich vegetables. That said, it's a shame that most people stick with what they know and like. They never venture out of the comfort zone of beans or peas, carrots or potatoes. For them, there's a whole world of good vegetables not being consumed and enjoyed. All vegetable lovers agree that fresh is best, if fresh is available.
Is Atkins the best diet?
This just in: The high-protein Atkins diet tops the charts as far as weight loss is concerned, according to a yearlong study from Stanford University School of Medicine. The study, published last week in the Journal of the American Medical Association, compared the Atkins program with three others (Zone, Ornish and the LEARN diet, which follows the governments food pyramid) that are heavier on carbs. After one year, those on Atkins lost an average of 10.4 pounds, compared with 5.7 pounds on LEARN, 4.8 on Ornish and 3.5 on Zone. This isnt the first time high-protein diets have come out ahead in weight-loss studies, leading researchers to believe that protein-rich foods have an edge over carbohydrates in making someone feel full and satisfied, leading to more fat-shedding success.
What You Can Learn From Professional Athletes
Well, how many "game days" do you have each week: days where you need to be sharp and bring your "A" game to your work? Compare that to football, basketball, and hockey players. OK, baseball players play as many "games" as you each week. But let's add this element: off-season. Baseball players and virtually all other sports have four to five months off from those games. When is your off-season? Just because your job is more demanding than pro athletes’ doesn't mean you can't learn from them. What Champion Athletes Know Athletes know they play their best when they’re energized, alert, and "in the zone." They also know that when their energy is flat, they stink. They know they’ll be fired if their performance is inconsistent and that at the heart of consistently excellent performance is having consistently excellent energy.
