2 for $20: Tripper's

My sister Tricia has finally wrapped up her school year, giving us time for lunch together. She still has to work though, so we had to pick somewhere close to her job to eat. Since she and her co-workers frequent Tripper's after work, we decided to check it out during lunch.

The mood

Tripper's is huge. Walking in during lunch was kind of weird because it was empty. Poker and pool tables filled the first two rooms and as we wandered our way back to the bar and dining room, both of which were filled with TVs. We saw no one at the bar and only a few other tables of diners in the dining room.

Tricia said it was kind of eerie because she'd only seen the place busy. But a waitress greeted us and brought us our drinks right away. Plus we were only there to gab and eat so who cares if it was empty?

The new media-friendly TO

Not only did he consent to media interviews, he spent about 15 minutes speaking to us.

Terrell Owens praised the current Wade Phillips regime, said the apparent crackdown on end-zone celebrations is "not even on my radar," expects a better year personally and even mentioned his specific diet regimen.

The wide receiver said he normally has for breakfast a couple of egg whites and wheat toast with strawberry jelly and usually subscribes to more frequent, smaller meals than three big ones.

"It speeds the metabolism up," Owens said before patting the substantial belly of a television reporter standing next to him. "You should try it."

PS Iraq: A First-Hand Account of the Struggle For Iraq

How it began: "Imagine being a civilian flying into a remote desert outpost in the Anbar Province of Western Iraq. You're flying in a Marine CH53 helicopter wearing a helmet and body armor. You're cradling a fully automatic rifle and you have a pistol strapped to your thigh. You are in a deadly military zone and you asked to come here?"

"This was the situation I found myself in last July. It was both strange and exhilarating at the same time. My retirement after thirty-five years with the Moline Police Department had lasted a scant three weeks. In June I began my intense training at Crucible, outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Afterwards I went to Fort Bliss, Texas for additional training. I am one of approximately seven hundred civilian police officers working for the Department of State.

Coca-Cola Football League Two play-off final, Saturday, 26 May, 15 ...

Milton Keynes Dons finished just one point outside the automatic promotion places in the regular season, with a points haul that was, respectively, 10, 12 and 13 points superior to that of Lincoln City, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury. Yet the Dons lost their chance to regain League One status (and now look set to lose their manager, Martin Allen, to Leicester City) by failing to overcome Shrewsbury in the play-off semi-finals. The Shrews - who will start next season in a new stadium - must now get the better of the Pirates, who defeated Lincoln 7-4 on aggregate with the help of five goals in the away leg at Sincil Bank.

Bristol is England's sixth most populous city but its football fans have been starved of top-flight football since Bristol City were relegated from the old First Division back in 1980.
