| Vegetables' many virtues
Blessed are the parents who let children know early on that it's really OK to like vegetables. It is, in fact, better to love them. A close relationship with vegetables can usually bring a longer and healthier life. If you listen to a lot of people, healthy and frequent doses of veggies can bring smooth skin, healthyhair, a good disposition. You name it, and someone somewhere will attribute all she is today to a diet of nutrient-rich vegetables. That said, it's a shame that most people stick with what they know and like. They never venture out of the comfort zone of beans or peas, carrots or potatoes. For them, there's a whole world of good vegetables not being consumed and enjoyed. All vegetable lovers agree that fresh is best, if fresh is available.

New end-zone stands are 'going to get loud'
But when Illinois opens the home football season Sept. 8 against Western Illinois, the north end-zone grandstand is likely to offer a better home-field advantage. Constructed after last season, the 5,000-seat structure is home to the student section, the Block I and the marching band. The grandstand fills open space and rises high above the field to cap the stadium's north end. "That will obviously change the environment,'' wide receiver Kyle Hudson said. "The students will be there when we run out of the tunnel. It's going to make that end of the stadium a lot louder. It's closed in now, and it's going to get loud. "I think it's going to be tough for opponents to drive that way with the fans screaming and yelling.'' The last touches to the north grandstand, such as installing the final bleachers, almost are complete.
Virgin Group to Help Build New Migratory Corridor to Protect ...
The Virgin Group is to help create a vital new elephant corridor, north of Mount Kenya, which will provide a lifeline for local communities and the dwindling elephant population in the region. Around 2,000 elephants, part of the Laikipia-Samburu elephant population, will benefit from the Virgin Mount Kenya Elephant Corridor, which will cost up to $1million dollars to build and maintain over the next ten years. Group founder Sir Richard Branson is donating $250,000 to the project. It will be created between the Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve and the Mount Kenya National Reserve, enabling elephants to benefit from the diverse resources offered by each habitat. Mount Kenya is a World Heritage site and one of the most impressive landscapes in Eastern Africa. .
Nicaragua: Plantation workers look for justice in the North
The people crammed into the stifling basketball gym. They filled the court, lined the walls and tumbled beyond the doors onto the sun-blistered streets. They had gathered to hear a promise of justice. Many had spent their lives toiling on banana plantations that U.S. companies operated in this region some 30 years ago. By day, the workers had harvested bunches of fruit to ship to North American tables. At night, some had sprayed pesticide into the warm, humid air to protect the trees from insects and rot. As the decades passed, the workers came to believe that the pesticide, called DBCP, had cost them their health. Prodded by U.S. lawyers, thousands joined lawsuits in the U.S. and Nicaragua alleging that the pesticide made them sterile. The U.S. firms that sold and used the pesticide have never faced a U.S.
